POSITION

GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Discovery Biology team as Insectary Lead. The Insectary Lead will be responsible for driving efficient and high-quality insect rearing, cross-functional communication, scientific contribution, and specialized colony protocol development

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES                             

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively regarding stakeholder needs to meet project milestones
  • Work collaboratively to establish rearing protocols for of new arthropod species of interest
  • Establish Quality Control measures and system for insect colonies
  • Contribute significantly to scientific discussions, serving as the expert on insect rearing
  • Onboarding field collected species including quarantine and regulated organism procedures
  • Assist Insectary Associate with colony maintenance
  • Ensure safe laboratory operations and a safety-focused work culture

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working with insects; 3 of those years leading an industrial insectary
  • Experience developing and optimizing rearing protocols for varied arthropod species in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated agility as it pertains to change, delays, or unexpected events and be comfortable with a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deliver on time and within budget
  • Must have outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be a team player and have experience working in highly collaborative teams to meet project goals
  • Must be comfortable working independently and cooperatively
  • Must have demonstrated effective communication to establish productive relationships with stakeholders
  • Must have excellent execution and follow through skills

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor's degree in entomology, biology, or related field
