Assistant Controller

GreenLight Biosciences is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to serve as a key resource to guide the finance department build-out and lead the technical accounting and reporting workstreams. The proven leader will be overseeing the financial reporting process, establishing internal controls, shaping the department’s policies and procedures, managing financial audits, and helping to scale the finance organization for commercialization. The successful candidate will partner with all levels throughout the organization and interact extensively with external advisors and vendors.

This position will report to the Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Oversee the financial statement preparation and review process, including variance analyses and account reconciliations

· Manage the month-end close calendar to ensure timely and accurate reporting

· Draft and implement policies and process narratives to ensure a strong internal control environment

· Support external audit processes by preparing data, acting as a key liaison with auditors

· Prepare for commercialization and product launch accounting, including revenue recognition, in new international markets

· Support the implementation of various systems and processes within the department, including ERP modules and interfaces

· Support the accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll teams

· Collaborate with the IT team to maintain system processes

· Ensure that the company has an effective financial infrastructure to support continued growth

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience

· 8+ years of progressive experience in managing finance and accounting functions

· CPA (Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus)

· Strong technical (US GAAP) accounting background and reporting experience

· Experience with multi-currency translation and consolidation

· Experience with Microsoft D365 or comparable ERP system
