About the company:

Ore Energy is developing the next generation of long-duration energy storage to enable a fully renewable power system. Our iron-air battery technology stores electricity for up to 100 hours, making it possible to keep grids running through multi-day periods of low wind and sun.

Unlike conventional batteries, our systems use abundant, non-toxic materials: iron, air, and water. This makes them safe, cost-effective, and scalable without relying on scarce minerals or fragile supply chains. When charging, the battery converts rust into metallic iron. When discharging, it reverses the reaction, consuming oxygen and producing rust again. This simple, proven chemistry has the potential to deliver energy at a fraction of the cost of other storage technologies.

Founded at TU Delft in the Netherlands, Ore Energy is focused on real-world deployment. In 2025, we connected the world's first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft. This milestone demonstrated that multi-day storage can be integrated directly into modern energy systems.

As countries expand renewable generation, the challenge of balancing supply and demand is becoming urgent. We believe long-duration storage is a critical part of the solution and that it must be safe, sustainable, and affordable at scale.

Ore Energy’s mission is clear: to store renewable energy anywhere, for as long as needed, using materials that are available to everyone. By combining deep electrochemistry expertise with practical engineering, we are turning one of Earth’s most abundant resources into a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.

The role

We are expanding our industrialization capabilities and are looking for an Industrial Architect to join our Factory Engineering team in Amsterdam. You will shape how our industrial facilities are designed and adapted as we convert and build out our first commercial production sites.

Working closely with engineering, operations and external design partners, you will translate manufacturing and operational requirements into practical architectural layouts and building solutions. Acting as the internal architectural lead, you will guide external partners to ensure building designs that support factory needs and operational realities. This is a hands-on role in an early factory design and execution environment, focused on creating facilities that are functional, compliant and ready to support advanced manufacturing from day one.

This role reports to Axel Save, Head of Factory Engineering.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, adapt and deliver architectural layouts and building concepts for modern industrial and manufacturing facilities.

  • Act as internal design lead towards external architects and engineering partners, guiding building design to meet manufacturing and operational requirements.

  • Translate process, manufacturing and operational needs into practical construction layouts, zoning and buildable solutions.

  • Coordinate facility elements with industrial equipment, utilities, logistical flows and technical spaces.

  • Drive alignment between internal functions and external partners across design, permitting, construction and operational phases.

  • Ensure facilities meet industrial safety, fire protection, accessibility and sustainability requirements.

Your profile

  • Degree in Architecture or related field with a strong industrial or technical focus.

  • 3+ years of proven experience from industrial or manufacturing manufacturing facility projects (required).

  • Experience leading and coordinating external design resources in complex technical projects.

  • Strong ability to translate manufacturing and operational requirements into practical building solutions.

  • Comfortable working closely with engineers, equipment suppliers and construction teams.

  • Familiarity with industrial building systems, safety standards and permitting processes, preferably in a Dutch/European context.

  • Strong proficiency in BIM-based design workflows and modern digital design tools (incl. Autodesk Revit) is expected. Experience with model and family management, clash coordination and CDE-based collaboration is highly valued.

  • Hands-on experience with brownfield redevelopment or adaptive reuse projects is a strong plus.

What to expect from our recruitment process?

1. 15min initial screening call with People & Talent Lead focussing on your motivation and interest in working for Ore Energy as well as fit for the role & wider team.

2. 45-60min technical interview with Hiring Manager for the role (or another member from the team)

3. 90min case study with Hiring Manager and other members of the team

4. Final interview (if needed)
