About the company:

Ore Energy is developing the next generation of long-duration energy storage to enable a fully renewable power system. Our iron-air battery technology stores electricity for up to 100 hours, making it possible to keep grids running through multi-day periods of low wind and sun.

Unlike conventional batteries, our systems use abundant, non-toxic materials: iron, air, and water. This makes them safe, cost-effective, and scalable without relying on scarce minerals or fragile supply chains. When charging, the battery converts rust into metallic iron. When discharging, it reverses the reaction, consuming oxygen and producing rust again. This simple, proven chemistry has the potential to deliver energy at a fraction of the cost of other storage technologies.

Founded at TU Delft in the Netherlands, Ore Energy is focused on real-world deployment. In 2025, we connected the world's first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft. This milestone demonstrated that multi-day storage can be integrated directly into modern energy systems.

As countries expand renewable generation, the challenge of balancing supply and demand is becoming urgent. We believe long-duration storage is a critical part of the solution and that it must be safe, sustainable, and affordable at scale.

Ore Energy’s mission is clear: to store renewable energy anywhere, for as long as needed, using materials that are available to everyone. By combining deep electrochemistry expertise with practical engineering, we are turning one of Earth’s most abundant resources into a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.

The role

We are seeking a Commercial Project Development Manager to lead the development and structuring of Ore Energy’s first commercial projects. This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, project development, and execution, with responsibility for translating signed commercial agreements into real, deliverable projects.

You will work closely with utilities, developers, EPCs, and large energy users to advance projects from early-stage agreements (MoU / conditional offtake) through to ready-to-build status, and oversee the realization phase. Acting as the primary interface during the project development phase, you will coordinate internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, structure delivery models, and ensure alignment across technical, commercial, and regulatory dimensions.

This role is critical to bridging the gap between commercial success and project realization, and will play a central role in enabling Ore Energy’s first large-scale deployments.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of commercial projects from MoU / conditional offtake stage through to ready-to-build and finally realization

  • Translate commercial agreements into clear project scope, including roles, responsibilities, and delivery models (e.g. EPC, partner-led, hybrid)

  • Coordinate with customers, EPCs, developers, and advisors to structure and progress projects

  • Support or lead permitting processes where applicable, including coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders

  • Define and align key project elements such as site integration, grid connection, and system configuration

  • Act as the primary interface between external partners and internal teams (product, R&D, finance), ensuring alignment on project requirements and feasibility

  • Identify and manage key risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks throughout the project development process

  • Drive projects through key development phases, ensuring timely progression toward financing and execution readiness

  • Contribute to the development of standard approaches for project structuring, contracting, and delivery

  • Support final contract structuring and negotiation in collaboration with the commercial team

Your profile

  • 5+ years of experience in the energy sector, ideally in project development, infrastructure projects, EPC, or related fields

  • Experience in developing and structuring complex projects involving multiple stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of project development processes, including permitting, stakeholder coordination, and early-stage project structuring

  • Comfortable operating at the interface of commercial, technical, and regulatory topics

  • Ability to structure ambiguous situations and drive projects forward in a hands-on manner

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align internal teams and external partners

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear actions

  • Proactive, structured, and independent working style

  • Professional fluency in Dutch and English

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, energy systems, business, or related)
