Ore Energy is developing the next generation of long-duration energy storage to enable a fully renewable power system. Our iron-air battery technology stores electricity for up to 100 hours, making it possible to keep grids running through multi-day periods of low wind and sun.
Unlike conventional batteries, our systems use abundant, non-toxic materials: iron, air, and water. This makes them safe, cost-effective, and scalable without relying on scarce minerals or fragile supply chains. When charging, the battery converts rust into metallic iron. When discharging, it reverses the reaction, consuming oxygen and producing rust again. This simple, proven chemistry has the potential to deliver energy at a fraction of the cost of other storage technologies.
Founded at TU Delft in the Netherlands, Ore Energy is focused on real-world deployment. In 2025, we connected the world's first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft. This milestone demonstrated that multi-day storage can be integrated directly into modern energy systems.
As countries expand renewable generation, the challenge of balancing supply and demand is becoming urgent. We believe long-duration storage is a critical part of the solution and that it must be safe, sustainable, and affordable at scale.
Ore Energy’s mission is clear: to store renewable energy anywhere, for as long as needed, using materials that are available to everyone. By combining deep electrochemistry expertise with practical engineering, we are turning one of Earth’s most abundant resources into a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.

The role
Ore Energy is looking for a Procurement & Contracts Lead to join our team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will take ownership of procurement and contract management activities across critical equipment, materials and services, working closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, R&D and external suppliers to ensure clear commercial agreements, reliable delivery and strong supplier performance.
This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role in an early factory design and scale-up environment, requiring strong ownership, structure and the ability to build robust procurement and contract management practices from the ground up.
Key responsibilities
- Own and coordinate purchasing activities for key equipment, materials, services and external partners required for factory engineering, industrialization and production scale-up.
- Manage supplier sourcing, purchase orders and commercial negotiations in close collaboration with technical stakeholders.
- Support equipment and service supplier selection by aligning technical requirements, commercial conditions, delivery timelines and risk considerations.
- Draft, review, coordinate and manage supplier contracts, purchase agreements, service agreements and related documentation in collaboration with Legal, Finance and relevant internal stakeholders.
- Ensure contracts clearly capture scope, deliverables, timelines, payment terms, warranties, liabilities, change management processes and acceptance criteria.
- Track supplier performance, delivery milestones, contractual obligations and commercial risks throughout execution.
- Act as a key point of contact for suppliers, ensuring clear communication, timely follow-up and resolution of commercial or contractual issues.
- Build and maintain structured procurement and contract management processes, templates, trackers and documentation standards.
- Support budget tracking, cost control and purchasing approvals in collaboration with Finance and project owners.
- Identify procurement risks, supplier constraints and contractual gaps early, and drive practical mitigation actions.
- Ensure purchasing and contracting activities comply with internal policies, legal requirements, safety expectations and sustainability considerations.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, contract management, supply chain or commercial project roles, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, engineering, construction or scale-up environments.
- Strong practical experience with supplier sourcing, purchase orders, contract coordination and commercial negotiations.
- Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into clear supplier scopes, commercial terms and contract documentation.
- Structured and detail-oriented, with strong ownership of timelines, documentation, follow-ups and stakeholder alignment.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal and external suppliers.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance commercial, technical and delivery priorities.
- Experience with equipment procurement, factory projects, industrial suppliers or capex purchasing is a strong plus.
- Comfortable working in a high-ambiguity and rapidly evolving environment; startup or scale-up experience is a plus.
