About the company:

Ore Energy is developing the next generation of long-duration energy storage to enable a fully renewable power system. Our iron-air battery technology stores electricity for up to 100 hours, making it possible to keep grids running through multi-day periods of low wind and sun.

Unlike conventional batteries, our systems use abundant, non-toxic materials: iron, air, and water. This makes them safe, cost-effective, and scalable without relying on scarce minerals or fragile supply chains. When charging, the battery converts rust into metallic iron. When discharging, it reverses the reaction, consuming oxygen and producing rust again. This simple, proven chemistry has the potential to deliver energy at a fraction of the cost of other storage technologies.

Founded at TU Delft in the Netherlands, Ore Energy is focused on real-world deployment. In 2025, we connected the world's first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft. This milestone demonstrated that multi-day storage can be integrated directly into modern energy systems.

As countries expand renewable generation, the challenge of balancing supply and demand is becoming urgent. We believe long-duration storage is a critical part of the solution and that it must be safe, sustainable, and affordable at scale.

Ore Energy’s mission is clear: to store renewable energy anywhere, for as long as needed, using materials that are available to everyone. By combining deep electrochemistry expertise with practical engineering, we are turning one of Earth’s most abundant resources into a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.

The role

Company Overview

Ore Energy is on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers. Our technology is designed to enable renewable power to become a dependable source of energy at scale, supporting the transition to a cleaner, more resilient and more electrified world.

Ore Energy has built significant momentum toward commercial deployment. The company has raised significant investment from leading European investors, demonstrated its technology under real-world utility conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployments.

Data centers are a key focus area for Ore Energy. As electricity demand from data centers accelerates and grid connection timelines become a major constraint, our iron-air batteries provide a compelling solution: enabling reliable, multi-day renewable power without waiting for grid expansion or relying on fossil-based backup systems. This makes our batteries one of the fastest, most cost-effective and scalable routes to bringing new data center capacity online while meeting sustainability and resilience requirements.

Role overview

As Senior Business Development Manager - Data Centers, you will steer Ore Energy’s commercial activities in the data center segment. You will identify and develop high-value opportunities, build a qualified pipeline, convert customer interests into pilots and commercial contracts, and help shape Ore Energy’s strategy for one of its most important target markets.

You will be part of the commercial team, reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). In this role, you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering and project development teams to translate customer needs into bankable commercial propositions.

This is a senior, customer facing role for someone who has a strong network and understanding in the data center ecosystem, energy procurement, infrastructure sales and long-cycle enterprise business development.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and own Ore Energy’s data center commercial pipeline, focusing on hyperscalers, colocation providers, data center developers and digital infrastructure customers.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across data center energy, sustainability, infrastructure, procurement and development teams.

  • Identify customer needs, use cases and market opportunities where long-duration storage can address key challenges such as grid constraints, renewable integration, power availability and backup solutions.

  • Convert commercial discussions into qualified opportunities, pilot projects, LOIs, MOUs, framework agreements and binding offtake or deployment contracts.

  • Develop customer-specific business cases, including renewable baseload supply, co-location with wind and solar assets, grid-constrained data center growth, behind-the-meter storage and long-duration backup.

  • Work with the technical team to define customer requirements, system configurations, performance assumptions, project scope, delivery timelines and integration needs.

  • Collaborate with utilities, renewable developers, EPCs, infrastructure investors and grid stakeholders to develop complete commercial solutions for data center customers.

  • Support pricing, contract structuring and commercial negotiations, including milestone payments, delivery terms, warranties, performance commitments and project risk allocation.

  • Represent Ore Energy at industry events, data center conferences, customer meetings and strategic partnership discussions.

  • Provide market intelligence on data center power demand, energy procurement trends, grid bottlenecks, backup power requirements, competitive technologies and customer buying behavior.

Your profile

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales or commercial roles, preferably in data centers, energy, renewables, storage or infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated experience building and converting enterprise or infrastructure sales pipelines.

  • Strong understanding of data center energy challenges, including grid capacity constraints, renewable procurement, power purchase agreements, backup power, energy resilience and sustainability targets.

  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders and manage complex commercial processes from first contact to contract negotiation.

  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, including the ability to evaluate project economics and customer value drivers.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Fluency in English. Additional European languages, especially German, Dutch or French, are a plus.

  • Willingness to travel across the globe for customer meetings, industry events and project development activities.

Ideal profile

  • You have experience in business development, sales or partnerships within data centers, energy, infrastructure, renewables, storage or related sectors.

  • You understand how data center customers think about power availability, resilience, sustainability, cost of energy, grid connections, backup systems and long-term infrastructure planning.

  • You have a relevant network across the data center ecosystem, ideally including hyperscalers, colocation providers, data center developers, energy procurement teams, utilities, renewable developers or infrastructure investors.

  • You are comfortable selling high-impact infrastructure technology into complex enterprise customers with long decision cycles and multiple stakeholders.

  • You can translate technical and economic concepts into clear customer value propositions and are able to build credibility with both commercial and technical audiences.

  • You are proactive, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a fast-moving scale-up environment where the commercial playbook is still being built.

Why us?

Data centers are becoming one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity demand globally, but their growth is increasingly constrained by access to reliable, affordable and low-carbon power. Ore Energy is building a technology that could become essential to unlocking that growth. Our iron-air batteries are designed to store renewable energy over multi-day periods, making it possible to provide dependable clean power for energy-intensive infrastructure.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company at the moment when technology readiness, customer traction and market demand are converging. Ore Energy has already raised significant capital, built and tested its technology under real-world conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployment. By joining the company, you will work directly with the leadership team, build a strategic commercial market from the ground up, and help define how long-duration storage powers the next generation of data centers.
