About the company:

Ore Energy is developing the next generation of long-duration energy storage to enable a fully renewable power system. Our iron-air battery technology stores electricity for up to 100 hours, making it possible to keep grids running through multi-day periods of low wind and sun.

Unlike conventional batteries, our systems use abundant, non-toxic materials: iron, air, and water. This makes them safe, cost-effective, and scalable without relying on scarce minerals or fragile supply chains. When charging, the battery converts rust into metallic iron. When discharging, it reverses the reaction, consuming oxygen and producing rust again. This simple, proven chemistry has the potential to deliver energy at a fraction of the cost of other storage technologies.

Founded at TU Delft in the Netherlands, Ore Energy is focused on real-world deployment. In 2025, we connected the world's first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft. This milestone demonstrated that multi-day storage can be integrated directly into modern energy systems.

As countries expand renewable generation, the challenge of balancing supply and demand is becoming urgent. We believe long-duration storage is a critical part of the solution and that it must be safe, sustainable, and affordable at scale.

Ore Energy’s mission is clear: to store renewable energy anywhere, for as long as needed, using materials that are available to everyone. By combining deep electrochemistry expertise with practical engineering, we are turning one of Earth’s most abundant resources into a cornerstone of the clean energy transition.

The role

We are expanding our industrialization capabilities and are looking for a Material Flow Engineer to join our Factory Engineering team in Amsterdam. You will shape how materials, components and products move through our manufacturing operations as we design, build and ramp our first commercial production facility.

Working closely with Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, you will define, optimize and deliver material flow solutions across production, warehouse and logistics interfaces. This is a hands-on role in an early factory design and ramp-up environment, focused on building practical, scalable and efficient material flow systems from day one.

This role reports to Axel Save, Head of Factory Engineering.

Key responsibilities

  • Define, optimize and deliver material flow solutions (both automated and manual) across manufacturing and warehouse operations; including storage, buffering, line feeding and auxiliary internal logistics.

  • Support factory and line layout development with a focus on flow efficiency, operability and scalability.

  • Define requirements for material handling, packaging and intralogistics systems, manage vendors and drive implementation from specification through installation and ramp-up.

  • Analyze production flows and material handling needs to identify bottlenecks and practical improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure that the production system operates as an integrated, holistic whole.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Production Engineering or a related engineering field.

  • 3+ years of experience in material flow engineering, manufacturing engineering, intralogistics or similar roles in production/industrial environments.

  • Proven hands-on understanding of manufacturing flows, material handling systems and operational realities on the shop floor.

  • Practical experience working with vendors, integrators or logistics system suppliers in industrial contexts.

  • Background in start-up or scale-up manufacturing environments is considered a strong plus.

  • Structured, collaborative and pragmatic problem solver, comfortable working hands-on in both design and operations.

What to expect from our recruitment process?

1. 15min initial screening call with People & Talent Lead focussing on your motivation and interest in working for Ore Energy as well as fit for the role & wider team.

2. 45-60min technical interview with Hiring Manager for the role (or another member from the team).

3. 90min case study with Hiring Manager and other members of the team.
