We are looking for a strong Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power Electronics to work on new power electronics product development. You will work on designing new solutions to support the generation of green hydrogen and execute from prototype to production.
You will be based in San Carlos, CA, and report to our Mechanical Engineering Manager, Power Electronics.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on design and analysis of mechanical aspects of high power electronic product for hydrogen electrolyzers. This includes:
- Mechanical design of power conversion module
- Design of power distribution, harnesses
- Design of NEMA 3R sheet metal enclosure and welded structure
- Perform detailed calculations, FEA analysis, develop 3D models and release CAD drawings
- Create test plans, identify root cause of failures, implement fixes
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 5yrs related experience
- Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, cast metals, plastics and other common material fabrication methods
- Proficient in 3D modeling and CAD drawings
- Experience product design, DFM and production support
- Proficient in outdoor rated electronics packaging and large enclosures
- Mechanical design, Tolerance analysis, structures, cabling, connectors
- Familiar with FEA software to solve stress and conductive thermal
- Experienced in high voltage, high current electronics packaging and cooling, plumbing
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in low and medium volume production
- Proven self-starter; identifies issues and creates solutions
- Working knowledge of scripting (matlab, python) or any other data analysis tools
- Basic knowledge of electric fundamentals
- Startup experience preferred.
