Your role and your team:


We are seeking an experienced Materials and Process (M&P) engineer who is eager to learn and ready to apply their knowledge in a unique and exciting program environment. You will be responsible for various metallic structural design efforts, including material selection, part qualification and process development that is required for aircraft certification.
As part of the M&P team, you will work closely with various Integrated Project Team members in supporting all aspects of design, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Additional responsibilities will include the hands-on concept development, an active role in generating material design allowables, and the documentation of results required for the associated specifications.
Strong verbal communication and writing skills are essential.


Your Day to Day:

•    Responsible for supporting the design and stress teams with material and process support for metallic structure, including expert guidance in materials selection.
•    Provide engineering expertise for general machining techniques, joining techniques, and corrosion protection.
•    Responsible for driving qualification efforts and design allowable management, including the development of specifications, written test plan and reports.
•    Engineering focal for support manufacturing process industrialisation, including metal forming selection, heat treatment selection, and failure analysis.
•    Research new technology proposals, and provide recommendations for rapid concept evaluation and implemenetation.
•    Support various program needs, which include design failure mode and effect analysis, substantiation of non-conformance dispositions, root cause and corrective action analyses.
•    Documentation of best practices, including authoring technical memos and presentations, with the ability to effectively share lessons learned in an evolving environment. 

Your Profile:

•    Degree in mechanical-, aerospace-, chemical-, materials engineering or similar (Ph.D./ M. Sc. preferred).
•    Minimum of 7 years working in an aerospace M&P certification environment.
•    Experience in selecting material standards and generating statistical design allowable development, including fatigue and damage tolerance testing, is a must.
•    Experience with casting and/or forging material and process selection is a plus.
•    Experience with supporting design is a must.
•    Highly driven individual with the ability to probe & challenge assumptions.
•    High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as individually.
•    Highly energetic personality is desirable, with a goal-oriented working style and demonstrated analytical problem solving skills.
•    Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
