What you’ll do:
- Plan and execute DOEs to characterize battery cell performance and degradation
- Present data and conclusions to cross-functional teams
- Characterize cells using electrochemical, chemical, and physical methods
- Hands-on operations with battery cyclers, glove boxes, and fume hoods
- Support cell qualification and battery manufacturing with cell teardown and root cause analysis
- Deep dive into battery cell degradation mechanisms and define cell operational boundaries
- Develop cell requirements and collaborate with our multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop world class battery systems
- Test, evaluate, and benchmark the best battery cells - Li-ion and beyond
What you need:
- 3+ years of experience working with battery cells
- M.S. or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field
- Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery materials, electrochemistry, and degradation mechanisms
- Knowledge or experience with novel battery technologies
- Solid understanding of the design details, manufacturing process, and possible defects in cylindrical cells
- Hands-on experience working with battery cyclers of Arbin, Neware, Maccor, Biologic
- Hands-on experience with battery/cell teardown and failure analysis
- Experience working with fume hood and glove box
- Ability to work closely with a team and communicate effectively
Bonus Qualifications:
- Data analysis skills with Python or MATLAB
- Direct experience working with international suppliers
- Passion for aviation and eVTOLs

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $110,400 - $138,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
