The systems engineering team at Archer oversees the development and integration of complex systems. This is accomplished by ensuring components, subsystems, and systems function as a cohesive and unified whole using proper development of requirements and interfaces. As the Systems Engineering Manager you will lead a team of 10 multidisciplinary engineers through aircraft development and certification. In this role you will report to the Director of Systems and Specialty Engineering and partner with other engineering teams to design, develop, and certify an eVTOL aircraft.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers including hiring, training, and providing career development guidance to team members.
  • Lead multidisciplinary efforts to guarantee proper integration of different systems
  • Understand and define system requirements, architecture, and design, ensuring that these align with both the technical goals and the overall business objectives.
  • Ensure the integration decisions are captured as complete and correct set of requirements and design data across all systems
  • Maintain Archer plans and processes regarding system development in accordance with SAE ARP4754A 
  • Lead team in executing Development Assurance (DA) of systems, subsystems, items, and suppliers
  • Support execution of MBSE to help aid system integration
  • Assist teams in integrated design decision making to optimize performance of the overall aircraft system
  • Lead architecture definition, trade studies, and mutli-disciplinary integration problem solving
  • Oversee integration testing and validation to ensure that the system meets all requirements and specification
  • Continuously improve systems engineering processes, tools, and methodologies within the organization.
  • Frequently communicate with other departments, leadership, and possibly clients or regulatory bodies. 

What you need:

  • BS, MS, or PhD Degree in engineering or related field
  • 10+ yrs of experience in developing one or more complex integrated vehicles
  • 4+ years leading teams
  • Knowledge of aerospace vehicle design
  • Experience developing requirements and supporting configuration and architecture definitions on one or more aircraft
  • Full understanding systems engineering practices and the underlying reasons and purpose for each process and activity
  • Experience on verification of highly integrated systems
  • Extensive experience using one or more requirements management tools
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Great organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication
  • Passion for learning and problem solving

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the regulations and standards applicable to transport and general aviation aircraft
  • Experience defining custom features or proposing improvements to requirements management tools
  • Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models and tools
  • Knowledgeable on SAE ARP4761
  • Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under 14 CFR Part 23/27 or equivalent regulations
  • Prior experience on certification projects with significant software and complex hardware elements
  • Background in RTCA DO-178 and DO-254

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
