Job Summary:

Support the Directors of Global Technical Development in managing and coordinating all field research activities and providing leadership in establishing proper scientific rigor and methodologies for all research and development within Europe and across all projects. Responsible for developing and providing the needed tools and processes to manage and interpret all R&D data within Europe. As a member of the global R&D team, responsible for guiding and managing all the European development projects, developing technical programs, working closely with the global research leads, the Formulations team as well with the Global and Regional Marketing teams. Liaise with the Regulatory team and external regulatory consultants ensuring that selectivity and efficacy data for BAD (Biological Assessment Dossiers) are planned and executed accordingly and are available at high quality on a timely basis.

Manage and direct all product development activities within Europe and provide technical expertise and implement overall company strategies. Working closely with and building an extensive network of external stakeholders and business partners in Europe.

 Job Responsibilities:

 Customer:

  • Leads the technical assessment of new opportunities, developing new product solutions including due diligence activities for business opportunities in Europe.
  • Assessment of proposed value propositions vs. available information, identification of key data gaps, impact of and comparison to the competitive products and technologies in the existing marketplace.
  • Collaborates internally with the R&D organization, Formulations, Regulatory, Global / Regional Marketing.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key customers, scientific organizations (Universities & Institutes) and extension services to ensure that GLB products are well received known, respected and promoted.
  • Develop and provide clear technical positioning for all products (new lead candidates as well as new development products) and the combined Greenlight Biosciences portfolio within Europe. This includes integrated resistance strategy, rotational products, and the future of Greenlight Biosciences product pipeline. Ensure that the global category/project teams have clear technical feedback from Europe to provide needed global support.
  • Ensure complete technology transfer at the time of the launch for globally managed products. In conjunction with marketing teams prepare and deliver presentations of detailed technical information and summaries in support of GLB’s product promotion and knowledge transfer. 

 Process/ Operation:

  • Coordinate regional and country specific Development programs and provide technical guidance to all involved stakeholders and teams. The incumbent will provide a leadership role for the technical development of agricultural solutions for the company in Europe.
  • Establish technical development strategy, field trial programs and detailed and relevant protocols to assess new opportunities, advance approved global projects to commercialization in Europe, and together with the Tech Service Team developing technical market positioning data. 
  • Ensure that incoming field trial data is summarized and disseminated in a concise, timely manner complete with relevant statistical analysis, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Liaise with the regulatory team ensuring that efficacy and selectivity data for BAD (Biological Assessment Dossiers) are planned according to regulatory requirements, are available at high quality on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that the Greenlight Research Station in Spain is utilized wherever possible for any trial needs and internal resources maximized before contracting trials externally.
  • In accordance with company objectives, develop and monitor development plans and budgets for all regional and country projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and within cost objectives.
  • Protect and develop Greenlights Intellectual property, including, but not limited to, development of testing agreements, invention disclosures and support of patent filings and prosecution.

 Individual/ Team:

  • Identifies opportunities to create synergies across functional teams by sharing technical information and by identifying and communicating best practices and new opportunities across global business units and with the commercial representatives in Europe.
  • Provides technical support and training where needed with specific focus on how to sell the value in the portfolio.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Master of Science or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology or related field.
  • 10+ years combined experience in field development and technical project management is required.
  • Technical expertise in new product ideation and product development for products with global and regional scope.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the Agrochemical, Crop Science or Bio-Solutions industry.
  • Proven success in leadership and in project management.
  • Experience working on a regional/global, cross functional team, demonstrated excellence in project management and field development, and cross-cultural communication is essential.
  • Good understanding of the European BAD requirements and ideally previous experience in the generation of a BAD.
  • Knowledge of high-level statistics, experimental design, and data analyses and interpretation. Technical knowledge of European agricultural markets and GAP validation for agricultural solutions products.
  • Experience with trials management software such as ARM is essential.

 Travel: 30% of the time; some international travel will be required
