YOUR IMPACT
We’re looking for a Project Controller to join our team and take ownership of the cost modeling and spend tracking for the Alpha project. This role is central to enabling financial visibility, accountability, and foresight in a complex, high-tech, and capital-intensive environment. You will work closely with engineering, construction, manufacturing, and leadership teams to identify bottlenecks, manage risks, optimize the project schedule, and implement robust cost control mechanisms.
This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and help shape the foundation of one of the most ambitious engineering projects of our time.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
-Develop and maintain a comprehensive cost model for the Alpha project, covering all major workstreams and phases.
-Work closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to collect cost data, align on assumptions, and update forecasts.
-Develop forecasting tools to include cost and schedule risks
-Track and report on actual project spend versus forecast, highlighting variances and driving actions to stay within budget.
-Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and tools at Proxima Fusion.
-Build and communicate clear financial dashboards and reports that support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
-Identify risks and opportunities in the cost and spend profile, providing actionable recommendations to leadership.
WHO YOU ARE
-Proven experience in project controlling, cost engineering, or financial planning & analysis for large infrastructure, manufacturing, or high-tech projects.
-Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in cost modeling, forecasting techniques, and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP/finance systems, or specialized software).
-Ability to navigate and synthesize complex technical and financial information into actionable insights.
-Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-Familiarity with construction or R&D-heavy environments is a strong plus.
-Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus.
-Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field (A Master’s degree, MBA, or a certification (like CMA, CPA, or PMP with financial emphasis) is a plus.
-Several years of experience (3–7+ years) in project controlling, cost engineering, or financial planning & analysis (FP&A)- ideally on large, complex, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, or high-tech R&D projects.
-Proven track record in budget management, forecasting, and cost tracking for capital-intensive and/or multi-stakeholder projects.
