Who You Are
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Superintendent to join Sila’s dynamic team and drive production execution at our new battery manufacturing facility in Moses Lake, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing aspects of production, from implementing plans and schedules to maintaining quality control, managing staff, and collaborating with other departments. This role will balance meeting production targets, optimizing efficiency, minimizing downtime, driving continuous improvement and fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee Production Operations: Manage and coordinate production activities, including scheduling, task assignment, progress monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Implement Production Plans: Execute production plans and schedules to meet targets, optimize efficiency, and minimize downtime.
- Ensure Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality control measures, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions to maintain and improve product quality.
- Lead and Mentor Staff: Manage the production team, handle staffing needs, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a positive and safe work environment.
- Monitor Production Costs: Analyze production expenses, labor utilization, material waste, and energy consumption to identify areas for cost reduction and implement cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with Other Departments: Work closely with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and logistics to ensure smooth production flow, material supply, and resource utilization.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. Encourage employee suggestions, implement lean manufacturing principles, and identify process improvements.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor and enforce safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and industry regulations to maintain a compliant and safe work environment.
- Manage Equipment and Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, coordinate equipment upgrades or replacements, and address breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate production reports, analyze data, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and identify areas for improvement.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in production supervision or management.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field; relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
- Demonstrated expertise in production planning, quality control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe safety shoes
- Move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Reach low shelves or items on the floor
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Climb stairs or over containment walls
- Precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
The starting base pay for this role is between $97,000 and $123,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
