As a Process Development Engineer – Thin Films you will be responsible for the development and implementation of thin films needed to make an electrolyzer. You will split your time between enabling our current manufacturing processes, creating the processes of the future, and interfacing with R&D for upcoming projects. You will work with stakeholders from the design, research, manufacturing, and test teams to design future process flows. You will be responsible for improving standard operating procedures for the variety of build processes it takes to build an electrolyzer, as well as maintaining a quality system that documents problems and drives root cause identification and corrective actions. As part of the process development team, a growing area within a dynamic company, you will be expected to not only work on tasks to make sure we achieve our short-term targets, but also to help us build towards our larger manufacturing goals. Daily tasks can and will be varied; our work will be focused around our goal of enabling deep decarbonization!
Ideal candidates for this role have experience in a manufacturing environment or working with high-tech assemblies. The Process Development Engineer role is safety-focused and committed to working in a collaborative team environment to achieve manufacturing goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Committed to safety and able to implement safety guidelines
• Assume a key ownership role in our sputtering deposition operations and other thin film deposition systems within the organization
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments performed hands-on or with help from others
• Develop and maintain process and equipment related to material research
• Prepare and presents reports and analyses as requested
Preferred Qualifications and Qualities
• Excited to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• BS or higher in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience in a technical manufacturing environment
• Solid knowledge in vacuum technology and sputtering deposition, understanding the process impact to nucleation and growth of thin film materials
• Working knowledge of thin film material characterization techniques and ability to interpret data from these tools (e.g. Ellipsometry, XRD, XPS, RAMAN, UV-VIS, AFM/STM, etc)
• Project experience that demonstrates excellence working within a team environment to achieve a technical goal.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, the proven ability to succeed in developing practical solutions that will lead to technology innovations and development
• Familiar with statistical data analysis and design of experiment methodologies
• Experience developing and/or improving designs or processes
• Attention to detail and consistently display a high level of workmanship
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs
• Team player with a positive communication style

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.
