As a Process Development Engineer - Characterization you will be responsible for the development of characterization processes and the deployment of metrology equipment to enable high-quality electrolyzer manufacturing. You will work with the design and research teams to understand core functionality requirements and then use those to create metrology practices and procedures. You will work with equipment manufacturers and outside subject matter experts to bring in state-of-the-art metrology equipment. You will implement these procedures and corresponding equipment in our manufacturing environment to ensure repeatable and reliable electrolyzer builds. As part of the manufacturing team, a growing area within a dynamic company, you will be expected to not only work on tasks to make sure we achieve our short term targets, but also to help us build towards our larger manufacturing goals. Daily tasks can and will be varied; our work will be focused around our goal of enabling deep decarbonization!
Ideal candidates for this role have experience in a manufacturing environment, or working with advanced metrology or characterization techniques. The Process Development Engineer - Characterization role is safety-focused and committed to working in a collaborative team environment to achieve manufacturing goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Committed to safety and able to implement safety guidelines.
• Understand the core functional requirements driving electrolyzer performance and translate those into metrology processes.
• Work with outside equipment manufacturers to implement state of the art metrology equipment.
• Implement data generation and collection to enable a quality system that drives root cause identification and corrective actions.
• Work between various internal and external teams to drive process creation and implementation projects.
• Work with a high level of ownership to drive projects through to successful implementation in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
• BS or higher in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
• Deep familiarity with one or more of the following metrology and characterization processes: surface profilometry, porosimetry, thin film thickness, goniometry, viscometry, XRD/XRF.
• Experience with soft good characterization techniques.
• Project experience that demonstrates excellence working within a team environment to achieve a technical goal.
• Experience developing and/or improving designs or processes.
• Attention to detail and consistently display a high level of workmanship.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.
