We are looking for a strong  Mechanical Design Engineer - Power Electronics  to work on new power electronics product development. You will work on designing new solutions to support the generation of green hydrogen and execute from prototype to production. 

You will be based in San Carlos, CA, and report to our Mechanical Engineering Manager, Power Electronics. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work on analysis and design of mechanical aspects of high-power electronic sources for hydrogen electrolyzers. This includes: 
  • CFD analysis for air heat exchange in electronics packaging 
  • Fluid cold plate analysis and design
  • Analysis of liquid to air heat exchangers
  • Thermally induced structural stress
  • Perform detailed calculations, structural FEA analysis.
  • Create test plans, identify root cause of failures, implement fixes 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge of electronics cooling methods 
  • Proficient in 3D modeling and CAD drawings (SolidWorks) 
  • Familiar with FEA software to solve for thermal, stress and fluid dynamics 
  • Experience with thermal management and fluid dynamics 
  • Thermal design: conduction, natural/forced convection
  • Fan selection 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experienced with plumbing and pump selection 
  • Experienced in product design from concept to production 
  • Experienced in high voltage, high current electronics packaging
  • Working knowledge of scripting (matlab, python) or any other data analysis tools
  • Basic knowledge of electric fundamentals
  • Startup experience preferred. Excited to help establish and define engineering tools and
