  • Design and execute electrochemical test protocols on research-scale cells and product-intent stacks to validate cell technology and system requirements
  • Work with software engineering team to automate data analysis and enable data-based decision making
  • Document and present experimental test plans and results to a cross-functional team including modelers, manufacturing, and stack engineering
  • Gain in-depth understanding of electrolysis cell test stations to troubleshoot and resolve issues during test operation
  • Lead efforts to track performance using statistical analysis tools to identify cell and test stand variability
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal customers directly on cell and stack development
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for executing electrochemical testing protocols
  • Perform electrochemical and mechanical characterization of cell components to advise optimization of critical components affecting the electrolysis cell performance and durability

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or other related field
  • 5+ years in industrial R&D in testing electrochemical devices or equivalent non-industrial experience
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with electrical control systems, instrumentation, and power supplies
  • Able to work well with others in a loud production environment and able to lift at least 50 lb
  • Exhibits commitment to a safe, reliable, and efficient work environment

PREFERRED:

  • M.S. or Ph.D.
  • Experience testing water electrolysis cells
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and systems including pumps, pneumatics, fans, flow meters, air handling systems, industrial chilled water, heating, process piping, and heat transfer
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with CAD and computation fluid dynamics and/or electrochemical modeling software
