In this role, you will: 

  • Fabricate, troubleshoot, maintain, and assist and influence the design of cutting-edge robotics, test equipment, and custom automation and controls equipment at our production and R&D facility.
  • Recommend, plan, and perform routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of automated production equipment, tooling, fixturing, and jigging.
  • Self-start and remain agile and responsive across a wide range of tasks, responsibilities, and objectives
  • Participate in the safe operation of the facility by identifying hazards and taking the required actions to resolve.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to less experienced or new team members/colleagues 

What's essential:

  • Associates Degree, Affiliated Apprenticeship, or Skilled Journeyman Certification 
  • 2+ years of experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing/ production environment or as a field service engineer
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and interacting with custom controls and electromechanical production equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot control and electrical system failures involving PLCs, ladder logic, HMIs, drives, servomotors, servo amplifiers, input/output, and field sensors
  • Ability to read and utilize schematics (mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/ hydraulic) to troubleshoot systems down to the component level
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to monitor equipment performance, diagnose root cause, and make reliability improvement recommendations
  • Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system to document and track work orders, perform inventories, procure spare parts and produce reports of completed work.

Position requires physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs. unassisted.

The activities above may include the need to support both US and international locations. Visits to supplier locations and various Heliogen sites/locations (including project sites) may be required.  

Desirable:

  • Methodical approach to troubleshooting with high level of attention to detail and root cause analysis tools
  • Experience with one or more of the following control systems: Siemens, FANUC, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff
  • Experience with electrical control panel design, building, and wiring
  • High voltage system training and experience
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers and OEMs, specify requirements, get quotations, and submit purchase requisitions to purchase necessary items
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports when necessary (skilled with use of Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and/or other heavy equipment certifications and valid drivers license
