What you will do:
Electra is seeking a Test Engineer with a strong background in fluid system design and data collection and analysis. The Test Engineer will focus on the characterization of novel electrochemical process technology to evaluate new processes, optimize existing ones, and ensure long service life and efficient operation. The successful candidate will have a “can do” attitude and an ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve multiple test objectives. Candidates with knowledge of design and instrumentation for chemical processes are highly desired.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability, will thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting, be self-motivated, and have an interest in disruptive, cutting-edge technology.
- Design and operate Electra's test infrastructure, developing equipment that will be used to characterize electrochemical processes.
- Identify and integrate instrumentation for process monitoring and data acquisition.
- Operate a variety of chemical processes using custom-built test platforms.
- Manage resources and scheduling to make efficient use of test platforms.
- Ensure safe operation of all test platforms and help develop safe testing procedures.
- Assist with data acquisition and data management from test equipment to enable maximum learning from every test
- Interface with a research team to develop new electrochemical cell test platforms and protocols.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements during troubleshooting of novel test fixtures and prototypes.
What we need you to bring to the team:
- BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with chemical processes and/or data acquisition for efficient data analysis and rapid learning.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify preventative maintenance measures to prevent system down time.
- Understanding of fluid power systems operation and controls (pumps, valves, etc).
- Understanding of basic DC and AC power, safety, wiring, and circuit design as related to implementing instrumentation and motor controls.
- Must be a "self‐starter" and follow tasks through to completion with little guidance.
- Must be able to work in a team environment to collectively solve problems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, affable, with demonstrated maturity and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team.
What we want you to bring to the team:
- Programming background including Python, R, JavaScript, C++, or equivalent, especially for data analysis and visualization. Database experience (e.g. SQL, TimeScale) also desirable.
- Familiarity with safe practices in wet chemical laboratories and chemical processes.
- Experience using JMP statistical analysis software including JSL.
- Experience using PLCs for process control.
- Familiar with electrochemical systems such as Arbin, Biologics, etc.
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
