Job Summary

MycoWorks is seeking an intern role in our technology development department under the Mycology team. This role will be responsible for researching a variety of topics including fungal growth, characteristics, and metabolism focusing on white rot fungi. The ideal candidate will have microbiology experience and ability to read and synthesize scientific literature. The ability to observe, document, and communicate as well as the ability to synthesize actions from results is highly desired. Familiarity with mycology and fungal fermentation or a related field is also desirable. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from people with a variety of expertise within the team and also cross-functionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, document, and synthesize scientific literature on fungal biology, fermentation, and processes with special focus on white rot fungi.
  • Compile and study internal and external data, find correlations, and discover useful insights for our SSF process.
  • Organize and reconcile previous research data from MW internal database
  • Document and disseminate research results through reports and presentations
  • Collaborate with Tech dev team members to learn, and understand our proprietary  SSF process
  • Determine the gaps in knowledge and target the literature review around them
  • Communicate findings periodically with a constant feedback loop. 
  • Systematically organize the findings into categories of actionable items
  • Deliver a state of the art report 

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program (or graduate school) at an accredited U.S. based university/college with major in life sciences, microbiology, or biotechnology related field.
  • Must have completed at least two year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
  • 1 year of cumulative experience working in biological laboratory is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Proficient in communicating information both in writing and verbally
  • Be comfortable in presenting findings in small team meetings as well as departmental group meetings
  • Ability to follow and understand scientific literature including searching for relevant articles.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties to meet timelines
  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional team members

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The targeted base pay for this role is $22-$25 an hour. The actual pay is dependent on other factors such as training, skills, work experience and business needs. The target pay range is subject to change and may be modified. This role is also eligible for benefits and equity.
