We’re looking for a fantastic Sr. Chemical Engineer and technical lead to be responsible for scaling our lab processes to scale-up with tollers, overseeing their implementation to achieve the same product quality, and helping them troubleshoot when needed. The successful candidate will ensure our lab chemical processes are scaled up to safe, effective pilot and industrial processes.

This is a full-time on-site position in Menlo Park, California. We accept domestic and Canadian applicants.

●  Be the technical lead and responsible for translating lab chemical processes and data into scale-up packages for tollers to execute our unit operations at a larger scale

●     Act as a project manager, pushing for progress and facilitating communications between the toller and the Novoloop team

●     Develop/perform HAZOP, start-up/shut-down SOPs, and safety training content

●     Work cross-functionally with the R&D team to obtain data needed to support scale-up targets

●     Help the R&D team optimize and iterate our processes based on learning and feedback from the toller

●     Design, run, test, and upgrade systems and processes

●     Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve processes

●     Perform process simulations and risk assessments

●     Manage projects with equipment vendors and external consultants

●     Travel to toller sites to oversee tolling runs, increase success rate, and develop relationships with scaleup partners

●     Successfully translated lab chemical processes to pilot or industrial scale via tolling

●     Have experience with small molecule reactive chemistry

●     Led the development of tolling packages

●     Worked with chemical tollers to reproduce lab processes in larger equipment and achieve target product quality

●     Managed tolling projects in chemical process scale up (from lab to pilot)

●     Designed and operated chemical process equipment

●     Developed safety and operability assessment (e.g. HAZOP) for processes involving hazardous materials and waste

●     Developed PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for pilot and/or commercial systems that were taken through construction

●     5+ years of industry experience

●     Minimum BS degree in Chemical or Process Engineering

 

●     Experience in process simulations

●     Experience with reactive extrusion

●     Experience with regulatory

●     Familiarity with health and safety regulations

●     Experience designing or operating oxidation processes and equipment

●     Experience collaborating with cross functional engineering team: mechanical, electrical, chemical process

●     Licensed PE (professional engineer)
