Zero Homes is building the industry's most advanced digital-first home upgrade platform, enabling high-fidelity Heat Pump and electrification design, entirely remotely.
Using your smartphone and powered by our high-precision design platform, we generate a full digital model of your home, removing the need for contractor site visits and slashing design costs. We’re not just offering estimates—we’re producing buildable, ACCA-certified Manual J® load calculations that rival or exceed traditional field methods for heat pump sizing, as validated by the Department of Energy. And we're not stopping at heat pumps. Our Remote Quote process unlocks pricing, equipment selection, and savings forecasts in a fraction of the time through a seamless homeowner experience.
About Zero Homes
Our mission is to electrify the world’s homes for healthy and sustainable living. Residential electrification is an extraordinary decarbonization opportunity - 145 million homes in the United States account for 20% of our climate emissions. But today, electrification is painful - it’s too complicated, time consuming, and expensive. So we’re building a new experience for homeowners, contractors, and utilities. Zero bridges the gap between the digital and the physical with a frictionless experience that makes electrification fast, easy, and affordable. Join our team to build a world class consumer experience that just so happens to electrify America.
About the Role & Your Impact
You will be a senior individual contributor on a growing product design team, partnering with a Lead Product Designer, fellow Product Designers, and a tight-knit group of engineers and climate tech leaders. This role is ideal for a strong generalist who thrives in ambiguity and wants meaningful ownership. We do not anticipate specialization that distinguishes between research and design, or UX and UI. You will work with 1-4 engineers in six week cycles to take loosely defined projects and deliver new features. We primarily use Figma, but designers are increasingly working with vibe coded prototypes and UI source code. Some examples of software products that you will support include native mobile applications that homeowners use to scan their homes and a web based design tool for HVAC systems. You will be given broad latitude to make project level design decisions and expected to operate effectively with minimal oversight.
What You Bring
You are a generalist with exceptional taste for great design. Whether it’s researching user needs, brainstorming design concepts, testing prototypes, or building features, you want to own projects from beginning to end. You have at least 6 years of professional product design experience and are comfortable working with sticky notes, whiteboard markers, and Figma.
You are a detail oriented systems thinker. You want to own the whole product, not just isolated features. You always anchor your work on user needs, and seek to understand how users operate in a larger context. You are strong in design systems and able to work within existing systems, adapt and extend them as the product evolves, and help establish shared patterns that improve consistency and velocity across the team. You may not have experience in climate tech or building science, but you are eager to dive into the messy world of residential electrification.
You have an eye for elegance - the confluence of beauty, effectiveness, and simplicity - and you have a proven track record of building elegant digital experiences. You value functional beauty in the physical world, and you are excited to build software that will create healthy, comfortable, and sustainable living spaces for our customers.
You are a pragmatic team player. You know that products only matter if they ship. You are prepared to collaborate with engineers and make tradeoffs in order to deliver projects within a fixed time box. You want lots of freedom, but you know that comes with the responsibility to communicate and deliver.
You are enthusiastic about in person work. You want to know your users by name, and you want to see them smile when they use your designs. You live within 50 miles of Denver, CO or are willing to relocate.
