Zero Homes is building the industry's most advanced digital-first home upgrade platform, enabling high-fidelity Heat Pump and electrification design, entirely remotely.
Using your smartphone and powered by our high-precision design platform, we generate a full digital model of your home, removing the need for contractor site visits and slashing design costs. We’re not just offering estimates—we’re producing buildable, ACCA-certified Manual J® load calculations that rival or exceed traditional field methods for heat pump sizing, as validated by the Department of Energy. And we're not stopping at heat pumps. Our Remote Quote process unlocks pricing, equipment selection, and savings forecasts in a fraction of the time through a seamless homeowner experience.
About Us
Our mission is to electrify the world’s homes for healthy and sustainable living. Residential electrification is an extraordinary decarbonization opportunity - 145 million homes in the United States account for 20% of our climate emissions. But today, electrification is painful - it’s too complicated, time consuming, and expensive. So we’re building a new experience for homeowners, contractors, and utilities. Zero bridges the gap between the digital and the physical with a frictionless experience that makes electrification fast, easy, and affordable. Join our team to build a world class consumer experience that just so happens to electrify America.
About the Role & Your Impact
This is an exciting opportunity to join an early stage company of talented operations generalists, led by seasoned energy veterans. At Zero, we have a lean and targeted operations team - all our roles have substantial scope, and are all cross functional from sales through deployment. This role is our first role solely dedicated to Accounting and Finance excellence, a critical component of our business as we scale. You should expect to own the financial reporting cadence for the business, including recurring close processes, paired with longer strategic initiatives, optimizing and analyzing our financials. You should expect a consistent work schedule, with limited meetings, and meaningful in person collaboration with stakeholders and peers, as well as flexibility around your personal life.
The products we build serve a diverse range of customers: homeowners, contractors, and utilities, as well as the Zero employees that support these customers. Our financials and our business operations reflect this complexity - we have a unique business with many different needs - and we need a clear financial picture to understand it. Our systems and tools are what you would expect for a business of our size, but as we grow we are expecting to evolve and mature these tools - integrating automation and controls - which you will be a key owner of. We believe there are not other companies that operate similarly to us, and therefore your impact and experience will also be unique and wide reaching. This role is a unique opportunity to stretch your financial skills and learn how to be a business owner alongside a rapidly evolving organization.
What You Bring
You are an accounting and finance generalist with a clear understanding of business fundamentals, financial accounting, financial reporting, and the core drivers of business profitability. Whether it’s closing the books, building financial models, managing payables, or designing new processes, you want to own projects from beginning to end. You are comfortable working across systems like QuickBooks, Gusto, Ramp, and Excel / Google Sheets, and you take pride in building clean, accurate, and auditable financial data flows.
You are a systems thinker who loves clarity and structure. You want to own the full accounting cycle, not just isolated tasks. You always anchor your work on operational reality, how money moves through the business, and you’re excited to learn the nuances of a fast-growing company working at the intersection of energy, technology, and residential contracting.
You are process-minded and you have a proven track record of implementing clean processes and organized systems. You value functional beauty in operations and are excited to help build a financial backbone that enables healthier, more sustainable homes and a resilient company.
You are a pragmatic team player. You know that numbers only matter if they’re timely and actionable. You’re eager to collaborate with leaders across Zero from operations to sales to engineering and you’re comfortable making tradeoffs to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy. You want ownership and autonomy, but you understand that comes with responsibility to communicate and deliver.
You are enthusiastic about in-person work. You want to know your users by name, and you want to see them smile when they use your designs. You live within 50 miles of Denver, CO or are willing to relocate.
