What you will do: 

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on the design of novel electrochemical cells and stacks. In this role you will: 

  • Design and continuous improvement of novel electrochemical cells, stacks, and test systems. 
  • Design robust sealing methods for multicell electrochemical stacks with flowing electrolyte. 
  • Perform validation testing of the design, operation, and performance of electrochemical cells and stacks. 
  • Prepare detailed drawings for components manufactured in-house and through vendors. 
  • Compute load capacities, dimensions, material usage, and produce detailed specifications. 
  • Develop relationships with vendors and provide product specifications to suppliers. 

What we need you to bring to the team: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline 
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering 
  • Excellent knowledge of DFSS and DFM principles 
  • Proven proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD Systems (such as SolidWorks/AutoDesk/Creo) for design, documentation, and fabrication 
  • Excellent knowledge of quality principles, concepts, practices, and standards (ASME 14.5) 
  • The ability to adapt and find creative solutions to complex problems  
  • The ability to adapt, build and refine or innovate testing tools 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

What we want you to bring to the team: 

  • A Master’s degree in a related engineering field. 
  • Experience with flow battery, electrolyzer, or fuel cell design 
  • Hands-on experience in design validation and ASTM testing standards 
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Experience designing with materials for aggressive media or corrosive liquids  
  • Experience or the desire to be in a dynamic startup environment 
  • Knowledge of large and complex industrial products, or chemical processing facilities 
  • A critical thinking mindset and focus on finding answers 
  • A safety-first mindset; share potential risks with others before they result in hazardous outcomes 
  • A desire to challenge yourself and take on increasing responsibilities as the company grows

Compensation:  

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$140,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
