GreenLight is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and experienced Scientist – Assay Development & Characterization to join our Analytical Sciences team supporting RNAi product research and development. In this role you will develop and execute novel methods to characterize dsRNA and other active biologicals, on their own and in various formulation concepts. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience with HPLC, CE, and other analytical chemistry techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team working to deliver against aggressive deadlines is essential. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability and drive to maintain commitment to scientific excellence and high-quality work in a fast-paced, milestone-driven company are must-haves.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute HPLC, CE, and other methods to quantify and characterize dsRNA and other active biologicals for various crop protection products in development
  • Serve as Study Director for various internal GLP product chemistry and method validation studies
  • Develop novel assays to quantify formulation components and adjuvants and assess formulation stability
  • Characterize formulated dsRNA to understand stability, uptake, and delivery to target systems, in simulated exposure systems, and in the environment
  • Advance analytical technology and lead innovation to enable deep characterization of dsRNA products and support the manufacturing process with in-process analytics
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to one or more Scientists / Research Associates on the team
  • Analyze, summarize, and present technical data to manager and other team members
  • Stay up to date with scientific and technical development within the field of Analytical Chemistry

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD (+3 yrs industry experience) or MSc (+7 yrs industry experience) required
  • Extensive hands-on experience with (U)HPLC required, including troubleshooting, operating, and development of analytical methods for biomolecules
  • Proven track record of successful method development, including fit-for-purpose assay validations
  • Protein experience including techniques such as CE, SDS-PAGE, etc. is preferred
  • Strong technical background in biochemistry, with hands-on experience working with nucleic acids and other biomolecules preferred
  • Must be highly motivated with high quality standards for one’s own work, strong communication skills, and an absolute commitment to team success
  • Ability to develop and implement methods for high throughput or (semi-)automated data analysis
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and challenge boundaries; adaptability to changing priorities
  • Able to critically review and efficiently troubleshoot assay issues
  • Experienced in working with CRO partners on a regular basis and enable successful method transfer in collaboration with other team members
