About the company:

Tomorrow.io is a weather intelligence and climate resilience company that provides a comprehensive platform combining space-based sensing, artificial intelligence, and sector-specific analytics to help organizations make data-driven decisions in response to weather and climate conditions. The company operates its own first-of-its-kind commercial weather-sensing satellite constellation, enabling cloud-penetrating atmospheric observation on a continuous and global scale. Its platform delivers hyperlocal weather forecasts, real-time data, historical weather analysis, and AI-powered decision support across industries including aviation, insurance, energy, rail, trucking, manufacturing, and government defense. Tomorrow.io's mission centers on building weather resilience for both organizations and individuals by transforming raw atmospheric data into actionable intelligence. The company addresses climate-related operational risks by offering agentic AI tools such as its Shield Agent suite, which helps insurance carriers anticipate peril-driven losses, accelerate claims verification, and manage catastrophe response. By fusing proprietary satellite data with global datasets and adaptive modeling, Tomorrow.io aims to reduce the economic and human costs associated with extreme weather events, directly contributing to climate adaptation efforts. What distinguishes Tomorrow.io is its end-to-end, space-powered AI architecture — from owning and operating its own satellite constellation to delivering enterprise-grade weather APIs, mobile consumer applications, and embedded forecast widgets. The company also maintains a philanthropic arm, TomorrowNow.org, focused on climate resilience for vulnerable communities. Founded in the United States, Tomorrow.io has grown into a globally trusted platform used by leading organizations worldwide seeking to operationalize weather intelligence.

Tomorrow.io is transforming how organizations make weather-driven decisions through proprietary space infrastructure, AI-powered forecasting, and operational weather intelligence. Our technology helps customers move from reacting to weather to building resilience against it.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (Defense), you'll bring Tomorrow.io's technology directly into mission environments, working alongside U.S. defense customers to deploy, integrate, and operationalize our platform where it matters most. You'll partner closely with Business Development, Product, Engineering, and strategic partners to ensure our solutions become embedded in real-world operations, helping shape both customer success and the future of our defense offerings.

What You'll Do

  • Deploy and operationalize Tomorrow.io's SaaS platform, APIs, and data services within U.S. defense organizations, mission environments, and military exercises
  • Travel 50%+ to customer sites, operational units, and experimentation events, serving as the primary technical resource during field engagements
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot API integrations with defense systems, including Palantir Foundry, Gotham, and other mission platforms
  • Partner with the Defense Business Development team to support technical discovery, customer demonstrations, pilot programs, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Build trusted relationships with operators, technical stakeholders, and partner organizations to drive long-term adoption and expansion
  • Capture field insights, customer feedback, and operational requirements to influence Tomorrow.io's product roadmap and future capabilities
  • Develop repeatable deployment processes, integration playbooks, and technical documentation that enable scalable customer implementations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and external partners to deliver seamless technical solutions
  • Represent Tomorrow.io as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring customers realize measurable operational value from our platform

What You Bring

  • 4–8 years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Technical Implementation, Sales Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role
  • Experience deploying SaaS platforms, APIs, or cloud-based software solutions in customer environments
  • Strong understanding of API integrations, data workflows, and technical troubleshooting
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and operational users
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or mission-critical technology programs is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or comparable operational platforms is a plus
  • Comfortable working independently in dynamic, fast-paced customer environments with extensive travel (50%+)
  • Has an active TS/SCI security clearance, or has previously held one in the past with the ability to obtain again
  • Military experience is not required, but confidence working with defense organizations and operational teams is essential

If you have reached this point and you are super excited but not sure you check all the boxes - we still want to speak with you! Your passion is priceless. Other things can be learned.
