About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate with a background in Microbiology or Biotechnology reporting through to the Senior Research Associate - Laboratory to join our team. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic research environment, collaborating with scientists to conduct screening of fungal samples. The ideal candidate will have experience with microbiology techniques and laboratory research.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including preparation, isolation, identification, characterisation of micro-organisms, functional characterisation of microbial strains with an array of laboratory assays etc following good laboratory practices.
  • Assist in the screening of fungal strains to drive product development in the laboratory, growth chambers and greenhouse
  • Independently carry out experiments.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data and prepare technical reports.
  • Investigate and resolve technical challenges in the laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensure their proper usage, and keep accurate records of laboratory work.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and assist with other laboratory duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or honours degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field.
  • Experience in microbiology techniques including isolation, cultivation, and identification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and precise records.
  • Proficient computer skills and basic statistics.
