What you will do: 

Working within Electra’s strategic Business Team, the primary responsibility is to be Electra’s steel and iron ore technical expert. The role’s core focus is on leveraging deep iron and steel industry technical knowledge and analysis to add value to Electra’s business development – first in North America then globally. In this role you will: 

  • Collaborate with internal strategy and technical teams to understand target markets and define opportunities for Electra to meet voice of the customer (VOC) inputs 
  • Define Electra product requirements, offerings to maximize value for Electra Shareholders 
  • Serve as subject matter expert with commercial and technical teams to achieve maximum sales revenues across all sales channels 
  • Understand and lead competitor analysis of metallic products and their relative value-in-use (VIU) to Electra products 
  • Lead forecasting of steel plant operating costs, revenue, carbon emissions, raw material requirements and value-in-use adjustments, capital expenditure and production volumes.
  • Develop and maintain models to model VIU for Electra products into the steel sector
  • Work with the Strategy team to input market and competitive analysis to prioritize development pathways, and define technical risks/gaps/mitigations
  • Leverage the full value chain of iron and steel industries to produce analysis of the market to include supply, demand, and price forecasts
  • Assist with the development of models for Electra products related to carbon emissions and life cycle assessment
  • Establish and maintain contacts with industry stakeholders to acquire data and knowledge to enhance Electra models
  • Provide input to TEA models
  • Makes recommendations for business strategy development 
  • Develop tools for pricing to support go-to-market contracting and discussions 
  • Provide input into contracting and sales approach
  • Develop compelling, high-quality technical papers and proof of concept guides to support the launch of new solutions and technologies
  • Collaborate with the technical teams to build powerful product demonstrations that can be leveraged at high-profile events, including large industry conferences
  • Present technical findings at internal training sessions
  • Assist with content development to support campaign initiatives for customer and prospect nurturing and targeted marketing campaigns 

 What we need you to bring to the team: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline 
  • 7 years of plant and technical experience working in metallics feeds for the iron and steel industry; preferably in a metallurgical, engineering, or senior project management role  
  • 3 years of experience working in corporate application of plant operations 
  • Strong, demonstrated technical experience in the iron and steel-making sector; preferably with some knowledge of the use of hydrogen as a reductant
  • Demonstrated experience in writing the scope for technical tenders and reviewing technical documentation including technical reports. 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of technical and product value-in-use from upstream iron ore and ore products through pellets to metallics, and consumption in EAF and BF-BOS steel making routes
  • Experience with OBM; Iron metallics consumption in EAF and BF-BOS 
  • Experience analyzing experimental data, reaching conclusions, and communicating results 
  • Familiarity with hydrometallurgy and electrowinning technologies
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as needed
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing processes and responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Compensation:  

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
