About the Position
 
The Mineral Rights Manager position will report to the CSO and will manage KoBold’s work regarding the securing and managing exploration and mining rights, surface access rights, securing permits, and related matters. The position will cover international regions including, but not limited to, US, Canada, southern Africa, and Australia. The role will include, but not be limited to:
 
  • Managing applications for new mineral exploration rights (i.e., staking claims, leasing)
  • Managing existing mineral tenements, including but not limited to maintaining standing of mineral rights, filing renewals, liaising with appropriate officials, etc.
  • Working with internal and external technical personnel to prepare assessment reports, and submitting reports of assessment work and exploration expense
  • Learning the laws and regulations regarding mineral tenure in various jurisdictions where KoBold works today and in new jurisdictions we are considering entering, and finding good local advisors wherever needed
  • Working with surface owners on site access and related matters
  • Working with Native American, First Nations, and Aboriginal stakeholders
  • Working with other claims holders to consolidate and/or coordinate exploration
  • Managing select permitting activity (e.g., drill permits, environmental permits)
  • Assist field operations team as needed
 
Qualifications
 
A Mineral Rights Manager candidate should have at least:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of land and/or permitting work
  • Experience with public (state/crown) mineral tenure
  • Experience with ministerial permitting for natural resources (e.g., metals, oil & gas, etc.)
  • Experience in securing access agreements  with surface rights owners
  • Experience in securing access agreements with First Nation or Aboriginal communities
  • Strong sense of ownership and proactive communication
  • Great care in getting the details right
 
A great candidate will also have one or more of:
  • Experience in the mining industry, ideally metals exploration
  • Experience with leasing/licensing on private land
  • Experience in multiple countries
