About Vertical

We are breaking the boundaries and pushing our commitment to the EVTOL world by changing the way the world travels. Our mission is powered by pioneers and progress is our prerogative.

Here at Vertical, we are developing the UK’s first fully electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), the VX4. With zero-operating emissions. Vertical is transforming the way people travel by offering a faster, safer, and greener way to move.

More about the team you will be joining as a Market Development Manager

We are looking for a passionate, Market Development Manager, to define new, electric aircraft businesses and ecosystem as we grow in high profile markets worldwide.  The role reports directly into the Chief Commercial Officer.

As Market Development Manager you will be customer facing. You will be responsible for managing key commercial relationships as part of our market leading global order book worth over $5bn. You will be joining a high calibre commercial team, likely based in our London corporate office or Bristol HQ.

The Commercial team is responsible for turning our pioneering technology capability into a commercial business – developing and implementing the go-to-market strategy working closely with customers including Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, Avolon Leasing, GOL Brazil and Air Asia.

My Impact as a Market Development Manager

  • You will be responsible for account management for one or more customers in Vertical’s prestigious order book, focusing primarily on customers in Europe, North America or Asia.
  • You will analyse and research on launch markets to develop strategies helping customers and partners launch the businesses to commercialise the all-electric VX4 aircraft.
  • You will use your data science skill set to develop intellectual property, including Excel and Python models, used in the sales and partnership process, or supporting aircraft operations.
  • You will play an important role in sales campaigns with the commercial team to expand our order book. You will support high-profile government-sponsored R&D projects, liaising with technical teams within the organisation and externally to achieve our commercial goals.

Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me?

We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences:

  • You will need demonstrable experience in a start-up environment, strategy consulting, investment banking, aerospace business development or a relevant adjacent industry function
  • You will have sound knowledge of some key parts of the aviation industry, including aerospace OEMs and suppliers, airlines, lessors, maintenance providers, air navigation service providers or airports
  • You will hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative subject
  • You will have an interest in the emerging advanced air mobility market and the energy transition
  • You will possess a start-up mentality, with the ability to self-organize and juggle multiple projects
  • You will have experience of building complex financial or operational models, using Advanced Excel and Python methods and skills
  • You will have a high level of analytical skill and be able to translate complex information into compelling and engaging presentations
  • You will have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build bridges with people across large teams or organisations

Personal

  • You will have a high degree of initiative and a commercial, focused, entrepreneurial mindset
  • You will be a team player, open communicator and collaborator - who keeps colleagues up-to-date, shares and learns without prompting
  • You will have a start-up mentality, ability to self-organise and juggle multiple projects and manage ambiguity
  • You will enjoy working in a hands-on environment and be prepared to get stuck into any task
  • You will have the ability to see long and short term, thinking tactically and strategically
  • You will be passionate about working in a dynamic environment and embrace change
  • You will know your strengths, yet recognise there’s always more to learn from others
  • You will enjoy building bridges with people across the organisation
