About the company:
Our mission
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.
We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices.
We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030.
What to expect
As a Technical Programme Coordinator, you will join a collaborative team of passionate individuals whose primary focus is to support the successful delivery of battery engineering projects from our world-class Vertical Energy Center in Avonmouth.
You will play a critical role in coordinating project workstreams, facilitating timelines and managing risks, ensuring all project deliverables meet the required standards of time, cost, and quality.
A typical day could range from collaborating closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to define project work packages, to developing comprehensive project schedules using tools like Microsoft Project, to coordinating with external organisations such as test houses to ensure seamless delivery alignment.
What you'll do
You will collaborate closely with engineers, team leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to define project work packages, identify interdependencies, and structure project scopes.
You will develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive project schedules, ensuring alignment with wider programme timelines and priorities.
You will monitor and report on the progress of internal and external activities against key milestones.
You will maintain and communicate key project KPIs and milestone statuses regularly to stakeholders and senior management.
You will identify, assess, and escalate project risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies where necessary.
You will coordinate and align with external organisations, such as test houses, to ensure shared understanding of schedules, deliverables, and roles/responsibilities.
You will support procurement activities by raising and tracking purchase requisitions to support the needs of the programme.
You will contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery practices and tools.
What you'll bring
Proven experience in a project or programme management role within a complex engineering or technical environment.
Strong working knowledge of risk management principles and frameworks.
Demonstrable expertise in project scheduling and planning tools such as Microsoft Project.
Experience with task management tools such as JIRA or similar platforms.
Highly organised with keen attention to detail and process discipline.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and hold stakeholders accountable across functions.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, adapting quickly to change.
Desirable
Formal project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP) is a plus.
Familiarity with working in an agile or hybrid delivery framework.
