ABOUT THE POSITION:

Manager PCS Controls Team will be leading a team of SW Development Engineers for PCS Controls and directly involved in the product development of utility scale energy storage solutions. Main responsibilities are:

Coaching and mentorship of a team of SW engineers, based in several Fluence locations

Together with the team, elaborate and implement PCS controls solutions to address innovative application requirements in the battery energy storage systems

It is expected that youa key player in the hands-on development of software

Preparing and continuous monitoring of budget estimates to support programs fordevelopment and sustaining engineering of PCS Controls

Collaborate with Product and Program Management, Engineering Teams, and Test Facilities to establish and optimize a framework for collaboration and processes across the functions

Ensure coverage of the needs for technical expertise in PCS controls development, which includes ideation of new functionalities, capturing relevant requirements, development of the controls architecture, implementation of functions, verification in the HIL and full test setup, collaboration with internal and external partners

Establish best practices for development, verification, and documentation of the controls SW

Work with inverter OEM’s to ensure smooth integration of the controls with the inverter HW

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree and 4-8 years of work experience in development of controls SW for power conversion systems in the renewable energy industry, as well as experience in team leadership, coaching and mentorship of team members

Familiarity with operation and application of PCS used for integration of renewable energy resources in power grids

Hands-on experience with PCS SW development and validation

Knowledge of related utility grid interconnection standards and regional grid codes

Familiarity with utility scale systems control and monitoring is a plus

Familiarity with grid-forming operating modes and applications is a strong plus

Knowledge of or history working with major componentOEMs in the solar or battery storage industry

Excellent English verbal and writing skills; German language skills is a plus

Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time
