Internship – R&T New Product Development

The Role:

You will be part of the Research and Technology Team at Lilium supporting the New Product Development. Team R&T Team is responsible for designing and developing future Components, Sub-Systems and System for the Generation 2 Propulsion System, Energy Storage System and Cell Technology. From parts to systems pre-development, the R&T Team plays a key role in bringing new ideas to applicable solutions. You will report to the R&T Lead supporting the development of a R&T product development framework and support the management of existing R&T projects.

As an Intern in the R&T team, you will be part of a small and agile team responsible for the development and maturation of novel concepts, technologies, and novel ways of bringing innovation to application. You will take ownership of selected projects and development tasks.

Your Day to Day:

  • Drive the methodology definition to conduct agile and efficient research and technology maturation following a systematic product development approach.
  • Contribute to the ideation, development and implementation of methods, tools, and processes by understanding the state of the art and industry best practice for new product development and technology maturation.
  • Support the data analysis and reporting by gathering data during the new product development activities, including compiling, and organizing data, running analyses, and preparing reports for team review.
  • Collaborate cross-functional with engineering, production, testing, and supplier to gather insights and input for the development of new methods, tools, and processes and to implement them.
  • Provide support to team members in the use of new methods, tools, and processes, including training sessions, creating user guides, and offering ongoing assistance as needed.
  • Support the R&T Team’s efforts in the technical development of prototypes from concept to production, resolving any design, manufacturing, and assembly issues along the way.
  • Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks.

Your Profile:

  • University degree in a STEM field is required.
  • Experience in research and development processes, methodologies, and tools
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic research and development environment.
  • Hands-on ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language is beneficial.
