POSITION
GreenLight Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative automation engineer to join the mRNA Design and Engineering R&D team. The successful candidate will develop automation methods on Hamilton Star, support automated HTP screening across the Human Health teams. The position offers growth potential for an automation scientist/engineer.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function as the system owner for automation systems used in Human Health R&D, ensuring reliable performance and routine maintenance.
- Develop automation methods on Hamilton Star.
- Provide user level automation training for new personnel.
- Train and manage an associate that will be working with the developed methods.
- Lead collaborative HTP screening and automated method development for other R&D teams.
- Present data to team and management as needed.
- Stay up do date on cutting-edge technologies in the automation space and bring the most relevant technologies into GreenLight.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate or Masters degree in Automation Engineering or related field. Other degrees will be considered in combination with 3+ years of relevant lab automation experience.
- Required minimum 1 year of experience with method writing on Hamilton liquid handling robots.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize activities.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and as a team member in a cross functional R&D team.
- Experience in the biotech or pharma industry or biology related education is strongly preferred.
- Experience with integrated work cells is a plus.
- Experience with Python coding is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum is a plus.
