Role Description

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced experimental scientist to lead a small project team within the Form Futures group, which develops early-stage technologies to advance Form Energy’s product and technology roadmaps. The Staff Scientist will lead a highly strategic and high visibility effort to develop new materials processing technologies. The ideal candidate will dive into hands-on lab work, literature review, and critical mechanistic analysis, and will be highly self-motivated with a high attention to detail. This lab work may include wet chemistry, powder processing, and materials characterization. This is an opportunity to have a direct and daily impact on the technology roadmap of an exciting energy technology startup and will require regular interaction with company leaders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Rapidly and rigorously evaluate technical literature to establish key hypotheses and testing plans
  • Design and execute experiments to understand and refine those hypotheses
  • Identify external resources that can accelerate cycles of learning
  • Clearly communicate learning and progress across multiple levels of the organization and across functions
  • Hire and mentor junior scientists and technicians to support the effort as it grows
  • What You’ll bring:

  • PhD + 2 years industrial experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success in the development of materials or chemical processing technology
  • Experience with analytical and materials characterization techniques
  • Electrochemistry experience is not required but is a plus
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
