As a Product Development Engineer for the SPARC Plasma Facing components (PFC), you will work with the design team and use knowledge of mechanical engineering in production of machined components in support of new and existing contracts.

This team member will:
Assist in development of optimized components that meet the requirements and are economical to produce with an acceptable lead timeSupport procurement in the preparation and execution of the manufacturing contractsLead and participate in prototyping and testing activities to validate requirements/assumptions and provide guidelines based on testsDevelop design notes, technical specifications, and documentation necessary to fabricate and install the partsPlay an active role in disposition of any NCR’s and tracking of the materials through various stages of receivership, inspection, staging, preassembly, and final assemblyDevelop assembly and work instructions (work packages)Participate in supervision of subassembly and final assembly of the PFC components inside the VesselThe ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or aboveHands-on experience with assembly and use of hardware and small to medium size tool and precision mechanical assembliesExperience with taking a product from design to manufacturing and working with vendors to fabricate the parts to the specifications and manage deviationsAdvanced CAD skillsKnowledge of welding of components for efficient joining to support a reliable, geometrically precise and economically viable structureAble to communicate effectively in a team and a fast-paced environment, making well informed decisionsAdditional experience and/or qualifications:
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbsAbility to sit for extended periods of timeWillingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-callWork in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics#LI-Hybrid
