Your Role and your Team:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Energy Storage System Engineer to join our dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing the future of transportation through electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing cutting-edge battery systems that power our advanced eVTOL aircraft. Your expertise will contribute to achieving enhanced energy efficiency, extended flight endurance, and overall performance improvements, pushing the boundaries of electric aviation.

Your Day to Day:

  • Battery System Design: Develop requirements and architectures for high-performance battery systems considering safety, energy and power density, thermal management, and weight.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, aircraft structure designers, and software developers, to seamlessly integrate battery systems into the eVTOL platform.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the battery system design by implementing advanced algorithms, controls, and monitoring techniques to maximize energy efficiency, enhance battery lifespan, and optimize power management during flight operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that battery systems meet the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements, performing risk assessments, and implementing appropriate safety measures to mitigate potential hazards associated with high-power lithium-ion batteries.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the fabrication and testing of battery prototypes, coordinating with technicians and external partners, and analyzing performance data to drive iterative design improvements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed technical documentation, specifications, and reports, presenting findings and recommendations to cross functional stakeholders and regulatory authorities when required.

 

Your Profile:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of battery systems, particularly lithium-ion technology, with hands-on experience in battery design, development, and integration.
  • Proficiency in battery and power distribution network modeling, simulation, and testing.
  • Familiarity with system engineering and functional safety guidelines for aerospace or similar safety critical applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
