We are looking for an experienced and versatile Sr. NPI Process Engineer to lead and improve our internal manufacturing processes, field construction processes, and data collection.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

  • Lead NPI processes and define phase gates to bridge communication between R&D and production teams. 
  • Prepare for product launch by becoming an expert on product and process design intents, define process and material flows, estimation of headcount through preliminary time studies, documentation, basic tooling design, etc. 
  • Be boots on the ground during initial product launch to ensure product and process design intents are being met, conduct time studies, capture any reworks, and to see and resolve any issues firsthand. 
  • Identify and manage risks associated with process deviations, quality issues, and data integrity during NPI and construction projects. 
  • Become an expert on waste elimination opportunities for site install processes through collection and visualization of time, cost, and yield data that helps management to establish projects, priorities and resource requirements. 
  • Lead effort to reduce process related wastes and shorten schedule. 
  • Work collaboratively with design, manufacturing, and technician teams to ensure processes remain optimized and efficient. 
  • Promote and enforce lean manufacturing practices within Rondo and its partners. 
  • Drive six sigma, 5S, and process improvement agendas on the NPI line. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other members of the project team, including contractors and engineers. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered to the required standards. 

 

What You Will Bring: 

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering 
  • 5+ years of experience with scaling manufacturing of new products and processes from prototypes to volume production. 
  • 5+ years of owning process improvement and sustaining projects. 
  • 2+ years experience using SolidWorks. 
  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing and/or NPI environment.  
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. 
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed (10-40% depending on workloads at site and project timelines). 
  • Driven and self-motivated. Must be able to work independently with minimal direction, take initiative, maintain relationships, and work effectively and collaboratively at all levels of the organization. 
  • Solid understanding of Toyota Production System and Lean Manufacturing principles. 
  • Experience with building processes and systems from the ground up. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California with travel to southern California, has a salary range of $135,000 - $175,000, and options for equity in the company.
