  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop an appropriate system level solution based on clear feature definition and requirements
  • Analysis of functional, behavioural and performance requirements
  • Logical design, architectural design, functional decomposition and allocation and interface definition
  • System integration and user acceptance testing
  • Facilitating reviews with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business functions

  • Validate that all systems/products are compliant to the engineering requirement deck and full traceability is taken through to DVP and fully documented DVPR and Gateway processes. This will involve detailed knowledge of Charging System Standards, validation methods and understanding of power electronics lifetime and functional testing, understanding of system testing of the charging sub-system.
  • Project manage/design systems, subsystems and components which meet agreed programme targets at lowest Total Cost, continually monitor the cost status versus cost target, and take appropriate action to control, identify and report cost risks and opportunities as soon as they are known.

Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know I have the right qualifications and experiences for this role?

Technically, you will have experience in design and development within the automotive/aerospace Electrical and Power Electronics systems sector, although other areas of relevant technology development may also be considered. You will require a good understanding and working knowledge of:

  • Complex electrical / electronic systems integration and the use of advanced technologies.
  • Understanding of AC-DC and\/or DC-DC Converter topologies and control methods. Power Electronics product design experience a plus.
  • Experience working with three phase power (240Vac to 480Vac) and DC voltages up to 1500V.
  • Power electronics design and Design for EMC.
  • Experience with Fuse and contactors specification.
  • Validation of HV systems and appropriate legislation for EV charging systems.
  • Automotive or Aerospace development processes.
  • Conventional, Hybrid and Electric vehicle architectures.
  • On Vehicle EE systems for electrified powertrains.
  • Energy storage systems
  • Degree in engineering or related technical discipline, and preferably with a higher qualification, (master’s degree or equivalent).
  • Strong track record of delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales.
  • Driven to delivering high quality projects, on time and budget, beyond customer expectations.
  • Relevant automotive industry experience, preferably within OEM, Tier 1, or consultancy business.
