GreenLight is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and experienced Scientist – Molecular Biology to apply cutting-edge RNA technology to the development of novel agricultural products. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing a set of innovative molecular assays and hands-on bench experiments to support analytical and technical characterization of cellular delivery materials and biological outcomes. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience and skills in molecular biology applicable to RNA interference (RNAi), gene & protein expression and next generation sequencing (NGS). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team working to deliver against aggressive deadlines is essential. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability and drive to maintain commitment to scientific excellence and high-quality work in a fast-paced, milestone-driven company are must-haves. Major Responsibilities

· Design and execute molecular assays to determine the uptake of dsRNA, processing and systemic translocation of RNA signals, and target gene silencing in various target species.

· Determine the fate and effect of dsRNA using techniques including PCR & qRT-PCR, Northern Blot, Westen-Blot and NGS sequencing.

· Collaborate with Formulation and Category scientists to screen novel delivery technologies for successful delivery of dsRNA into various target species

· Collaborating with team members using creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot & overcome assay challenges

· Stay up to date with scientific and technical development within the field of Molecular Biology applicable to RNAi.

· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to one or more Scientists/Research Associates on the team

· Maintaining accurate records of experiments and results

· Analyze, summarize, and present reports for stakeholders

· Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment for the entire team.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

· Ph.D. or M.S in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with +3 years' experience in the industry settings

· Strong proficiency in molecular techniques, such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, Northern blot, Western Blot, next-generation sequencing etc.

· Ability to develop and implement methods for high throughput or (semi-)automated assays and data analysis

· Experience in performing innovative NGS technology development, hands-on experience of sample and library preparation, and knowledge of sequencing platforms (Illumina, NanoPore, and PacBio) is a plus.

· Willingness to learn new concepts and challenge boundaries; adaptability to changing priorities

· Must be highly motivated with high quality standards for one’s own work, strong communication skills, and an absolute commitment to team success

· Proven track record of creativity combined with the ability to develop novel molecular methods and assays
