To execute this plan, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven and treat people well, improve our team by adding diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits, and have skill sets and experience that relate to this role.

Working closely with the SPARC R&D team, this individual will be responsible for developing testing plans, procedures, and infrastructure (facilities, equipment, instrumentation, ect.)  to help reduce the risks identified within the SPARC design team. They are responsible for the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the test facility equipment (i.e. power, cryogenics, vacuum, etc.) necessary to gather decision quality data for the associated design team, including developing all associated P&IDs, schematics, channel lists, wiring diagrams, and data acquisition software. Their areas of focus are writing and executing test plans and procedures, troubleshooting, debugging, and data analysis. This individual will also be responsible for planning and executing a wide range of subscale tests to gather data including but not limited to material property, vacuum, electrical, electromagnetic, and cryogenic testing.

CFS team members thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits. We all tightly align with our company values of integrity, execution, impact and self-critique. As we grow, we are looking to add talented people who are mission driven and bring diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems.

At CFS, we deeply value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer by choice. We consider all qualified applicants equally for employment. This team member will:

  • Collaborate on process development and operation for the one-off testing of HTS magnets and associated subsystems from initial low-volume R&D to prototype production testing
  • Coordinate the writing, execution, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical test plans and procedures
  • Responsible for the design, procurement, and commissioning of all test facility equipment (power, cryogenics, vacuum) necessary for a specific test
  • Responsible for development of all design reviews, wiring lists, P&IDs, schematics, tooling, data acquisition systems, and operations software
  • Coordinate reviews, and analysis of test data, lead anomaly investigation and resolution, and present results to a team of physicists and engineers
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of integration & test discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement for processes
  • Execute plans for future expansion, including capital equipment and floor layouts, always having a vision for scalability of systems into a larger context.  Provide visions for multi-use test infrastructure that can be scaled for multiple applications
