About the company:

Revolutionising urban air mobility and electrifying air travel

Our Mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), ‘zero emissions’ aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.

We won’t realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to ‘redefine’ aerospace best practices.

We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030.

What to expect

In this role, you will drive the quality culture in Vertical forwards whilst maintaining our core values. This will involve working with production and manufacturing teams to ensure the aircraft is produced in a safe and compliant manner, applying a range of quality tools, performing audits and continuous improvement activities.

You'll report to our Quality Manager, with autonomy to lead the end-to-end Quality process to ensure parts are delivered on time, at the required rate as well as to the required quality standard.

What you'll do

  • You will support the production and manufacturing engineering teams to build safe and compliant development of the aircraft and all required documentation.

  • You will ensure that all production operations are supported by a robust quality control plan as a minimum and introduce further APQP tools where applicable.

  • You will deliver within the confines of ISO9001, AS9100 and CAA Part 21.

  • You will support the management of the non-conformance management system and resolve issues in a timely manner to reduce impact to rigorous programme schedules.

  • You will support the control of non-conforming product and Quarantine Store.

  • You will identify and drive continual improvement activities.

  • You will play a key role in ensuring that quality assurance and quality control is applied to all aspects of the aircraft build.

  • You will support the maintenance and management of the organisations Quality Management System.

  • You will conduct and/or support internal audits.

What you'll bring

•   You will have a proven track record of deploying a quality culture in a fast-paced and dynamic Aerospace production work environment.

•  You will have demonstrable hands-on experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control and be able to demonstrate a proficient use of Quality Management Systems.

•   You will possess knowledge of regulated manufacturing.

•   You will have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

•  You will be experienced in internal audit processes.

•   You will have experience in Metrology practices.

•   You will have experience in AS9100:2016

•   You will hold a degree of the equivalent engineering qualification (HND/HNC).

Desirable Experience:

•  Experience of regulatory requirements in an aerospace approved organisation

•   ISO 9001:2015 or higher training

•   Lean Six sigma qualification (i.e. green belt)

•  Experience in training or development of others
