Principal Stress Enginer

Join our Airframe Design Team based in Bristol as a Principal Stress Engineer and help us to achieve our mission of pioneering electric aviation.

A unique opportunity to be part of a team that is responsible for the full Airframe design of a brand new aircraft!

You will provide technical leadership to a team of highly motivated engineers and guide them to create novel, light weight, certifiable aircraft structure.

What success will look like for you as a Principal Stress Engineer within Airframe?

• Provide direction the stress teams across the Airframe department driving pragmatism and consistency of approach to solving technical challenges.

• Be focal point in design reviews, challenging teams to ensure optimal solutions are reached

• Support certification activities, providing guidance on suitable methods of compliance.

• Technical approval signature for stress analysis & reports and drawings.

• Mentoring individuals to aid their personal development.

What would we like you to bring?

• Previous aircraft experience is ideal, particularly on eVTOL or comparably novel projects.

• Experience of the entire product development life cycle is desirable.

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, and application of the engineering V&V process.

• Demonstrated technical delegation within an applicable field

• A pragmatic approach to analysis, understanding when FE or hand-calculations are most appropriate.

• Experience with Hyperworks is advantageous, alternatively experience with other FEA packages.

• Strong organisational skills and an ability to focus on and complete detailed tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with a wide range of disciplines within engineering.

• Understanding of Fatigue & Damage Tolerance or Crashworthiness & Impact methodologies is desirable
