The Packaging Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the packaging department within a warehouse environment. This role involves leading a team, ensuring efficient and accurate packaging of products, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing workflow to meet production targets. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of packaging processes, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

This role is onsite daily in Hazelwood, MO.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of contracted employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily packaging operations to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Ensure all products are packaged according to specified quality standards, labeling requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of packaging materials, coordinating with Supply Chain to ensure adequate supply.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety briefings and ensuring compliance with all OSHA regulations.
  • Optimize packaging processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and waste reduction.
  • Operate packaging machinery and equipment, ensuring regular maintenance and calibration is being completed.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, quality control data, etc.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, shipping, quality control) to ensure smooth workflow and timely product delivery.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to packaging operations promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Solid computer skills, including experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring contractors are properly onboarded, understand company policies, safety procedures, and their specific role and deliverables.
  • Regularly monitoring the quality and quantity of work performe, providing constructive feedback, and addressing any issues
  • Clearly assigning tasks, setting expectations, and delegating responsibilities to the team

 

Work Environment:

  • Actively working on the production floor
  • Job will involve office and computer-based work for record keeping
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a packaging role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience.

 

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
