Zoox is seeking a highly motivated Operations Data Analyst/Scientist to join our Fleet Operations team. With a safety-first mindset, the Fleet Operations team maximizes fleet availability and utilization for our customers, as we build towards a scalable mobility service for Zoox. We enable our operations to run safely and reliably, support testing efforts to accumulate miles, and execute against our commercialization plan. In light of this mandate, the team uses data to drive decision-making and lean operations. You will join a diverse, experienced team with a rapidly growing scope and responsibility while also having access to one of the most unique data sets in the autonomous vehicle industry. Hence, we are seeking all skill levels to grow with the team. This role will be an integral member of the Strategic Operations team (a growth function within Fleet Operations), to help lay the foundation for how data can be leveraged to improve the safety and utilization of Zoox’s fleet. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to our autonomous vehicle operations. You will be responsible for using data to drive insights and recommendations that will help us improve our operations and make strategic decisions.

Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $206,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
 
Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

Vaccine Mandate
Employees working in this position will be required to have received a single dose of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine OR have completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series. In addition, employees will be required to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine within two months of becoming eligible for the booster vaccine.

Employees will be required to show proof of vaccination status upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment. That offer of employment will be conditioned upon, among other things, an Applicant’s ability to show proof of vaccination status. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key metrics and data sources related to autonomous vehicle operations
  • Assess gaps in data pipelines and create new pipelines to enable better tracking
  • Build robust, reliable data models for descriptive and predictive analysis
  • Develop and maintain usable and actionable dashboards, reports, and other tools to track and analyze operational data and answer the “So What?”
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to answer specific questions and provide insights to the team
  • Monitor data to Identify trends and patterns that drive efficiency and work with cross-functional teams to establish new programs or tools and enhanced product requirements that increase efficiency, create cost savings, or generate revenue
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the company
  • Establish a standard for data trustworthiness in collaboration with the core Data Science team
  • Create the foundation for predictive analytics and processes to help Zoox understand the tradeoffs between decisions around assets and resources
  • Develop a strategy that leverages AI/ML for Operations and build complex data models that leverage AI/ML algorithms to support business decision-making and drive operational improvements.
  • Qualifications

  • You are a curious hustler. You are interested to understand why things are the way they are, challenge assumptions, and propose new ways of thinking. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field or experience in operations research and optimization techniques including linear programming, integer programming, and simulation modeling.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis/science or related field
  • Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, SQL, Python)
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python (such as PuLP, Pyomo, SciPy… etc and visualization tools) , R, or MATLAB 
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with autonomous vehicle operations or other transportation-related industries is a plus
