The Role

We are seeking an experienced NPI Program Manager, Mechanicals who will lead and oversee the NPI sourcing and materials management for all of our mechanical components including but not limited to Metal enclosures, Plastics, Wire harnesses, Fasteners and other custom and Off-The-Shelf components needed for the assembly of our new generation products. 

This position will report directly to our Director of NPI Programs and be an integral part of the SCM Organization (Supply Chain & Manufacturing). 

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • NPI Sourcing: Identify, audit and select suppliers across Mechanical commodities in order to support our aggressive product launch schedules. This will include evaluating technical capabilities as well as commercial items to enable strong partnerships between SPAN and its strategic partners.

  • NPI Material Program Management: Given the nature of our products, you will bring your technical expertise in understanding our tooling timelines and costs, COGS structure and overall material timelines, highlighting the pros and cons of any given vendor solution and driving vendor engagements from inception to production launch.

  • BOM - Bill of Materials tracking: given the nature of NPI programs, you will be the key point of contact and source of truths for all sourcing/purchasing activities involving mechanical parts. You will work closely with our Mechanical Engineering teams and NPI Manufacturing teams to drive alignment and clarity, ultimately resulting in clear instructions to our pool of suppliers.

  • Help SPAN counterparts in driving quality improvements in the product and with CM’s and Suppliers.

  • Ensure the resolution of technical issues in NPI development and production that are impacting the schedule with all cross-functional teams (Engineering, quality, manufacturing test, suppliers and contract manufacturing partners).

About You 

Required Qualifications

We are seeking a highly capable Program Manager, NPI Mechanicals, who has:

  • 4-6 years of experience in various NPI Programs, Global Supply Management functions with an emphasis on mechanical components (sheet metal, CNC, laser cutting, plastic injection molding, etc.)

  • BA or BS in engineering or supply chain management or equivalent experience

  • The ability to think strategically with confidence and speed

  • A detailed understanding of NPI timelines and potential levers to improve cost and schedule

  • Experience working at a startup

  • Deep breath of experience working with component suppliers directly, with both a program management and sourcing mindset. 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Solid track record working with suppliers based in South East Asia and Central America

 

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
