We are looking for an experienced Construction and Plant Safety Specialist who thinks about safety from a first-principles perspective, questions norms and standards. You will ensure that our internal pilot plant infrastructure and customer projects are built, commissioned, and operated safely while also complying with environmental, health and safety regulations. You will be an integral member of our engineering and deployment teams, ensuring safe execution and providing feedback to improve both our product design and deployment processes. You will work with a team to support multiple parallel customer site deployments of our 100MW, 50 Ton per Day green hydrogen electrolysis systems.

You will remote out of Houston, and you will report to our EHS Manager. Up to 50% travel to customer project sites may be required for this position.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain our construction and operations safety culture
  • Help to hire and lead our deployment site safety team
  • Set, update and maintain site construction, commissioning and operations safety standards
  • Partner with customer and EPC safety teams to ensure all individuals onsite work in a safe environment
  • Partner with our product engineering team to design safety in
  • Oversee contractor safety from selection through execution
  • Provide comments and recommendations with respect to compliance with regulatory standards
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate changes to permit safer construction methods
  • Conduct field review of EH2 construction projects and assess contractor and EH2 staff compliance with expectations and standards
  • Develop site specific plans for safety, emergency action, site logistics, and training/orientation
  • Represent, emphasize, and promote our Zero Injury Culture to all teammates
  • Lead investigations into field site safety and security incidents and near misses and continuously improve safe operations

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of environmental, health or safety experience in a chemical process plant construction and operations environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, safety or health discipline
  • Knowledge of applicable construction and general industry Federal and State safety related regulations and procedures
  • Experience with high-risk hazards such as medium and high voltage, high current, pressurized systems, explosive gasses, heavy lifts/rigging
  • Experience supporting EHS processes and administrative tasks
  • Proficiency using presentation software to explain complex information to non-technical personnel
  • A proven track record of managing safe operations while supporting construction and infrastructure improvements
  • Experience working in complex and poorly defined environments, maintaining safety while solving problems and promoting teamwork

$128,000$141,000 USD

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
