Carbon Engineering (CE) is a Canadian-based clean energy company leading the commercialization of groundbreaking technology that captures CO₂ directly from air, and a second technology that synthesizes it into clean, affordable transportation fuels.
This is a position for a senior Millwright with Red Seal certification and experience in an industrial/chemical production environment. In addition to a solid grounding in mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Reports to Supervisor, Mechanical Maintenance.
- Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting a range of electromechanical equipment including pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, fans, centrifuges, and heat exchangers.
- Participate in reliability and root cause analysis to improve equipment safety, reliability, and availability of equipment from R&D to commercial scale.
- Mentor Plant Operators, Apprentices, and Junior Engineers in maintenance standards and practices.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help refine CE’s maintenance processes, procedures, and systems for the new Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre (CEIC) and future commercial facilities.
- An asset to be a Pipefitter and/or Class A welder and certified to weld pressure piping.

The regular shift pattern will be Wednesday to Saturday with 4x10 days from 0700 to 1730. On-call is also a requirement. For Q1 for the short term, there will also be a requirement to do split shifts (0600-1630) and (1130-2200).
Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and condition-based maintenance of process equipment; including pumps, motors, compressors, fans, centrifuges, and heat exchangers.
- Monitor equipment and processes and ensure deficiencies and operational issues are reported clearly.
- Utilize knowledge and experience of electromechanical systems to troubleshoot complex issues on a range of equipment.
- Conduct inspection and repair of equipment and determine parts required for repair and replacement.
- Use the Fiix CMMS to complete maintenance work orders in line with the plant maintenance schedule.
- Install machinery and equipment according to plans.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to reduce plant downtime.
- Arrange 3rd party inspections and certifications of equipment as required (e.g. vibration monitoring).
- Use OEM Operation and Maintenance manuals to collate maintenance requirements and populate the maintenance schedule.
- Assist the Supervisor, Mechanical Maintenance with the development of maintenance systems, procedures, standards, and practices and identification of reliability trends.
- Fabricate welded pipe spools and complete other specialist welding if qualified as a Class A Welder.
- Opportunity to assist with design, specification, installation and commissioning of benchtop and development equipment dependent on experience.
- Opportunity to assist with fabrication and installation of new process equipment dependent on experience.
- Availability for on-call and shift work including evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal Millwright required.
- Pipefitter and/or Class A Welder certification is an asset.
Experience:
- 5+ years maintenance experience following Red Seal certification, preferably in an industrial/chemical production environment.
- Experience commissioning industrial facilities is highly desired.
- Forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift experience an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
