Carbon Engineering (CE) is a Canadian-based clean energy company leading the commercialization of groundbreaking technology that captures CO₂ directly from air, and a second technology that synthesizes it into clean, affordable transportation fuels.

We are looking for an experienced PR and strategic communication professional to help drive CE’s brand awareness in the European continent. The Manager, Communication – Europe will play a key role in shaping the way our company is perceived by key audiences in these important markets. You will support all stages of the communication process – from concept and strategy to message development and execution – to deliver robust and effective communication strategies in support of key business activities.

This position reports to the VP, Europe who is located in London, UK. The successful candidate will be based in the EEA or UK and will be a key member of CE’s Europe team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and managing PR and communication plans and strategies in support of key business activities and trends in key European markets.
  • Partners with VP Europe, and the Europe management team, to provide strategic and tactical advice and support as it relates to PR, content and communication, leveraging CE’s central Comms team, in our Canadian headquarters.
  • Media relations: Lead CE’s media relations strategy and execution for Europe, including but not limited to media announcements, site visits, events, reactive media requests, proactive media relations activities, thought leadership activities, and industry award submissions.
  • Social media: Manage CE’s Europe social media strategy and develop Europe-specific content in collaboration with CE’s Head Office communication team who manage CE’s social media channels and global content calendar.
  • Conference plans: Horizon scan for impactful European conferences to achieve the European team’s goals and liaise with organisers to secure slots. Review, prioritise and recommend sponsorship opportunities at such events.
  • Strategic partnerships: CE’s VP, Europe and Business Development team will continue to develop, own and nurture CE’s strategic partnerships. For matters related to PR and communication, the Manager, Communication – Europe will: act as key point of contact for CE’s partners in the European continent markets; work directly with CE’s partners to develop and implement joint communication strategies and activities; ; and deliver outstanding customer service to CE’s partners, building long-term relationships.
  • Content creation: Coordinate the development and production of a variety of materials to support CE’s Europe team, including but not limited to: infographics, PowerPoint slides, videos, media materials, and website content.
  • Internal communication: support the European team to bond as a team and with Head Office colleagues through initiatives such as team videos and internal-facing summaries of European activity.
  • Brand strategy support: Serve as a custodian of the CE brand, ensuring all communication and content created adheres to CE’s approved brand guidelines.
Education, Experience And Key Competencies

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication, journalism, or a related field.

Experience: 7-10 years experience in progressively senior communication roles.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic communication plans and initiatives to support business objectives, with experience in more than one of the member states within the EEA and the UK considered a strong asset.
  • Advanced media relations experience with established relationships with European media in the environmental, business, policy or energy beats.
  • Experience co-developing communication strategies and plans with key B2B relationships.
